What is it about?
A wrongfully accused writer desperately turns to his ex-wife for help, but she’s now married to the district attorney leading the manhunt against him. Nick Gardenia (Chevy Chase) is kidnapped by bank robbers and forced at gunpoint to rob a bank in Carmel, California, leaving his face captured on camera. Now a fugitive, he seeks refuge with his ex-wife Glenda Parks (Goldie Hawn), a compassionate public defender who takes in stray dogs and former clients with equal enthusiasm. The timing couldn’t be worse—Glenda is married to Ira Parks (Charles Grodin), the uptight Los Angeles County district attorney who’s being considered for attorney general and is leading the search for Nick. As Glenda tries to hide Nick from police, prosecutors, and her jealous husband, while simultaneously hosting a crucial dinner party for the governor, chaos erupts with comic timing worthy of the classic screwball comedies that inspired this Neil Simon gem.
