Excess Baggage (1997)

What is it about?

Desperate for her wealthy, neglectful father’s attention, Emily Hope (Alicia Silverstone) stages her own elaborate kidnapping. The plan: lock herself in the trunk of her BMW, get “abducted,” and wait for a panicked reunion. But the plan goes spectacularly off the rails when a professional car thief, Vincent Roche (Benicio Del Toro), steals the car, completely unaware of the “excess baggage” in the back. What follows is a chaotic, high-stakes road trip, as the two form an unlikely, combative alliance while being pursued by Emily’s concerned Uncle Ray (Christopher Walken) and the actual, far more dangerous criminals Vincent was involved with.
